They had to come up with SOMETHING new to keep the crowdless shows going and to keep them entertaining for home viewers; look at how people still shit on the wrestling shows that had no crowds or fans on several screens for a 'crowd'
COVID probably harmed pro wrestling more than most real sports because at least the real sports could simply go on without crowds, due to real competition being the central part of the entertainment. Wrestling is fake fighting that needs crowd noise and atmosphere as a large component of its entertainment value, so it was royally fucked when crowds got banned
