The only problem is that he holds both world championships and not just one. If he lost the WWE championship around Summerslam, people would have given Drew even higher chances of winning and Roman retaining would have helped him recover so that he could head into wrestlemania for this big finale. He had this issue back in 2013 when they unified the titles: a bunch of top-level guys who have to wait around in the midcard because only the GOAT-level people are going to be in the title scene.

Anon, it's not about protecting Roman's image. It's about the length of the title reign. Ending the title reign on a dusty finish like that is fucking suicidal. You're not building any talent. Beating someone like Roman is a career defining moment for one of your top babyfaces. Drew beating Roman clean is infinitely better than that shit. Having this Mania signal the beginning of the end of Roman's Reign (heh heh) wouldn't be the worst idea, it'd be a little weird to end a historic reign like this on this just shy of the 40th WM. I definitely think that Acknowledgment Ceremony they were gonna do with the Samoan legacy could be a good angle that could lead to a lot of drama within the Bloodline (though it'd be a little lackluster if they couldn't get the Rock to squeeze out one more match as a part of it)
