>TMZ is reporting that Warner Bros. Discovery has cancelled AEW Dynamite and Rampage.
Via TMZ:
>All Elite Wrestling's flagship show "Dynamite" and "Rampage" could soon be without a home >-- Warner Bros. Discovery quietly let the league know it's not renewing their TV contract … TMZ has learned.
>Multiple sources with direct knowledge of the deal tell us WBD execs contacted AEW owner Tony Khan late last week to break the news -- and the following day Khan informed members of his inner circle.
>AEW's current deal with WBD reportedly runs through October. It's unclear at this point when "Dynamite" and "Rampage" will stop airing on TNT and TBS.
>We're told there's no bad blood, and WBD gave AEW such advance notice so it would have time to shop for a new TV deal. AEW's show debuted on TNT in October 2019 -- and helped the league rise to #2 on the wrestling scene … behind the WWE.
>We've called AEW and WBD for comment ... so far, no word back.
>The main reason hasn’t come out yet, but I imagine it’s an amalgamation of a lot of things.
>WBD helped bring in expensive players with hopes that AEW could increase ratings and close the gap between them and WWE, which has never happened.
>There were rumors that they were close to being sold earlier this year, but the Khan family didn’t sell because they wanted Tony to have an on-camera role with the new group.
