>>9033356Austin asked him about his beginnings and childhood. Dean said he wasn't athletic or sporty at school, and basically buried himself by implying he was stupid, lazy and not motivated to be the best version of himself he could be. Austin talked about how he was incredibly dedicated
wanting to do everything athletic and learn as much as he can, so that showed Dean up. Then he dodged the question when asked about his family. Instead of being honest and explaining how it's uncomfortable to talk about or just straight up telling Steve to not go there, he just looked like a dear in headlights not knowing how to handle himself. He came across as childish or like he hadn't really taken the time to resolve any issues he had in the past. If he didn't want to talk about it he could have been a man and told Steve no, but he didn't. Then when discussing wrestling he came across as a total mark who was in way over his head, and more content just doing stupid shit rather than wanting to fight for a top spot like Steve did.
All in all it was a disaster for Dean. Dean dropped the belt to AJ shortly after and was never the same again. He spoke recently a few times about how he regrets the interview a lot. He probably lost a lot of respect from people because it exposed him as not really being what he tries to portray himself as. It's a perfect example of the difference between a genuine driven all-business man from before who had done everything he could to become the top performer making the most money, to a 21st century mark who just wanted to do it because he thought it was fun.
