don't know if they'll do a third crossover next year but that would be the proper place to continue the story and not a G1 match
Why would NOAH agree?
to beef up Muto's retirement show and I think this match was more inspired by the kickboxing match that also happened in Tokyo Dome

The storyline is continuing but it's very long term.
First off, Kaito is gonna go on a slump now, lose his belt, and have to recover.

Kaito VS Okada II will probably happen at some point with Kaito getting revenge, but it's still miles away. That was the point. Kaito is just not on Okada's level yet. This is to give him some sympathy.

I love the Ace of the Universe but in 2023 and Kaito's current situation it would be a pity consolation prize; Tana is the most unselfish man in wrestling (see webmrel) and bless him for it but routinely giving upset victories to people like Chase Owens and Aaron Henare every G1 means that a win over him at this point would not add enough wind to his sails to alter his perception at this point. Maybe someone who's been champion in the last few years like Shingo or Ospreay, but I don't see those matches happening unless he gets put in the G1.
