A few neat moments and decent matches here and there but overall yeah it was a gigantic failure that only helped WWF's fall from grace. I know people who either didn't watch then or weren't even alive then go back and watch and say "well it wasn't THAT bad" because yeah like I said in ring wise there was some good matches here and there and that's all zoom zooms have been conditioned to care about. But for those who'd been watching both WWF and WCW/NWA for years if not decades at that point everyone was anticipating something special. Instead like others have already said it got turned into McMahon vs. McMahon part 20000000. which was insanely played out by that point. WCW and ECW got merged together (which in and of itself was a hideously stupid move) and all the history and intrigue got thrown out the window as they became a generic group of faggots called The Alliance. Plus The Alliance lost like 90% of the time or more thus were of zero threat at any point. Plus the big names weren't there other than DDP and Booker T, who were both booked horribly right out of the gate.
Even though the angle was already absolute shite within weeks, the Invasion PPV, weak ass card that it was, did a huge butyrate because people foolishly thought that maybe some big time stuff and sweet surprises would occur and the angle would REALLY begin. Instead we got shitty matches, predictable outcomes, Austin turning heel AGAIN which just seemed dumb. Only positive was RVD vs. Jeff Hardy which was a good match that got RVD over pretty much instantly.
It was terrible. The whole thing ended with Austin vs. Rock. Two WWF guys.
