This is my first post in this thread but what are you even talking about? I love Inoki, Mutoh, Hashimoto, Chono, Choshu, etc, but I can also admit their failures and how badly Inoki-ism killed puro as a whole, across all promotions.
it's not a rare opinion, or a "Smark" opinion (you're talking about old Japanese wrestling and pretending not to be a smark? lmao), it's just widely accepted by the NJPW fanbase, past and present, that Inoki-ism nearly sank the ship
Everybody knows and the reason Inoki is still beloved is because he is also responsible for largely building puro up before destroying it in a fit of vanity so he could get pops at Pride shows and further his own celebrity
