Come to think of it the Ellsworth run era of Smackdown was the last time pro wrestling was super fun for me. The internet buzz from places like /asp/ the dude got off that one squash match got him a job and he was hitting it out of the park every week. He went from complete meme to credible comedic wrestler so quickly it was sad to see him go.

He was a jobber set to fight strowman in a squash match and cut a little promo people found it endearing and everyone jokingly posted about wanting him back
Several weeks later at the start of smackdown they showed this graphic for the main event and everyone went nuts because they actually brought back this weird looking jobber and put him in a marquee match
Peak shitposting and he ended up being a regular roster member for around 6 months
