>>9141693first six years I held it together alright, sold pot, LSD, cocaine etc had a couple live-in girlfriends and an active social life in the rave scene. then shit got dark, people started dying and I moved across the country to live in a place with an open-air drug market with cheaper stuff. lived in a single room occupancy in one of the worst neighborhoods in my country, on meager welfare and a part time job as reception desk at a crackhead hotel.
honestly it was kind of chill in retrospect but I know that’s rose tinted lenses and i know for a fact i wanted to escape that life at the time. spent most of my free time at the library, in parks reading books, watching dvds my parents would burn and send me.
eventually a family member paid for my return ticket to home and i got in methadone treatment, tapered off that over the course of a year and live an astonishingly regular life. married to a teacher, two kids (4 & 2) and a mortgage on a nice single family house in the suburbs. no career to speak of, work like 18 hours a week in the meat department of a local grocery store but my wife does well (Canada so teachers make money). just lucky to be white, over 6’ and conventionally handsome because otherwise I’d probably still be in poverty or alone.
