It should have been a tasteful blend of WWE and the smark-scene, but basically everything feels like a disorganized clusterfuck. You have literal who's trying to turn an undercard filler match into a five star classic, where everyone refuses to sell for any move. You somehow have both a bloated roster and too many titles. There isn't much branding for things like matches and PPV's, and the characters don't really have gimmicks.
In business, companies can run into issues of scalability. You create a company that works well and slowly start building it up, but as it grows it gets harder to manage, and some processes that used to work well don't work as well on a large scale. It's very important to have a stable core around which the business can be built, and you need to be careful not to grow too fast. AEW really jumped the shark with this, because they've clearly bloated way beyond their glorified indie origins.
