Still a top 5 merch seller in the company, Despy is a top 10. The idea that you need a world title match or need to end up in the same place everyone else does to not be ghettoized is modern WWE to a tee.
Competent feds can handle Jr. guys and let them meet their potential for popularity/drawing power just fine.

This. After that screenshot from the other day it makes so much fucking sense that Phil politicked to bury Page. Page was getting like 5 minutes of airtime a week between matches while Punk was getting like 30 minutes a show or more.

You can’t say Page was a bad champion when he never actually got TV time to do anything. He’d get TV time when he needed to wrestle and he’d excel, but he never got time to build feuds or do promos.

I legit despise Punk. Worst part about this is he complained about being an afterthought while being champion in 2011 while the show still revolves around Cena.

clearly you don't remember his feud with adam cole. the problem with it was the jobbed cole to orange cassidy just before they had him challenge for the title. i guess they had the plan that they'd do a wild lights out match that would get over from the violence to the point the winner and loser wouldn't matter. but then adam cole (i guess suffering from being an e-hangover) did a generic wwe-approved hardcore match, instead of a pissing blood take years off your career match. so it didn't get over that well and he just came off as a loser.
