He's used Sting extremely well, in my opinion. He's built a memorable relationship with Darby as a mentor figure and they've worked a few angles out of it that are interesting. Sting has never gone for a title or any real singles push. He's there as an enhancement guy, a legends draw, working in a mentorship role where he actually gets in the ring.
One of the few things Tony has done well imo

Sting giving the pep talk before the match in Seattle felt important.
But then BotY happened and Darby dropped the title back to Joe.

Sting has done everything he can for Darby. Time to end that association and for once don't go the predictable route, no heel turn, no feud between the two. Just let them shake hands, maybe one more pep talk from Stinger and the two go their separate paths. From there start the Sting retirement tour. Matches with all the big AEW names and finally a world title match. Sting loses. Sting retires for good.

Its rumored that Darby has a shitty attitude and that's why he hasn't got the push you'd think he deserves. I know he's openly said he'd rather be skating than wrestling so maybe that's part of it.

Vampyro wasn't a ring technician and didn't do 560 degree flips but the dude had an interesting look, an actual character and seemed legit menacing at times. Darby looks like the singer of a modern Screamo band.

I think Sting still has at least one singles match in him. From what I've seen he can still wrestle ok. AEW should give him a storyline to make his final match(es) feel important. So far Sting's AEW run has been better than WWE but not as good as TNA.
