In lucha they prioritize creating space, which usually involves taking and rolling out of the center of the ring. They also roll through most of their bumps and smack the mat as they roll. A lot of spots are different ways to throw your opponent to create that distance before going to the next one. It's one of the reasons why it looks so elegant when done right. Guys hardly ever stand around or awkwardly walk towards their opponents.
