Because aspirational "I want to be like them" heroes have been replaced by author insert "I want them to be like me" heroes across all of media and entertainment.
Adam Cole is a small, soft willed, soft bodied, mildly snarky guy who isn't a natural athlete, which makes up the majority of wrassling fans myself included, and he's dimeless as a result. I don't like me, why would I want wrasslers to remind me of me?
