I get the sense not a lot of /pw/ posters know about Andy and the crazy shit he did. He was basically a wrestler committed to working angles and feuds in public, but not in actual wrestling matches, because he was only a little guy. He had a character called Tony Clifton that was a lounge singer who would get heat with the audience all night, and then he'd pay his friend to come on stage at the end and bodyslam him to pop the crowd.

Yes he had white hot heat when he would wrestle. Especially when he wrestled women. Of course no celebrity will ever be over again because kayfabe is dead and buried. People back then thought it was real and this guy would shoot wrestle women from the audience and shit. This is why zoomer AEW fans suck. They shit on kayfabe as if it doesn't matter but the business was better and more entertaining when smart people could suspend disbelief and dumb people could actually believe. Now you have indie shitters kicking out after moves that should have killed them, throwing fucking fake grenades and magical energy balls, fighting with their hands in their pockets, and ok maybe you find it mildly entertaining but you will never hate a guy like those boomers hated andy kaufman or root for a guy like i rooted for stone cold when i was 10. The business will never recover from this era.

Sorry brainlet, boxing and shoot amateur wrestling existed back then too and the business never had an issue because they kept kayfabe. Yeah, people suspected it was fake back then but if you didn't throw it in their fucking face every chance you got they could pretend it wasn't for a few hours.
