Everything about the way Tony books AEW makes sense when viewed through the lens of him being a 2000s era message board smark and simply using his toys as a way to try and live out his fantasy EWR games from the time period. It's why he's willing to let the Elite leave in favor of Punk or keep featuring an old and broken down Samoa Joe or why he bought ROH or why he doesn't use the joshi or Takeshita in any prominent way.
