If it wasn't for his addictions and lack of work ethic, I truly believe that Jeff Hardy would have surpassed Cena in terms of being The Guy of that era
Jeff is arguably the biggest waste in the history of pro wrestling, he's basically our Len Bias except he's not dead

It's crazy how Vince has had several ladies' man characters yet none of them connected to the female fans like Jeff did. Go watch the segment where Jeff gets burned in the pyro accident. As soon as the EMTs came out with the stretcher to treat him (which worked some people in the crowd into thinking it was maybe a shoot), you hear nothing but women loudly screaming and crying for him because they thought he was hurt for real. I've never seen a wrestler get that kind of female response during a show when he appeared to be hurt

I think its because those ladies' man gimmicks were always done in a sort of cheeky way. Women probably did find guys like Rick Rude and Rick Martel or Shawn Micheals attractive, but to make it a gimmick seemed outlandish and somewhat comical. Where as Jeff actually garnered genuine reactions from female fans. I think women just like the whol rebellious enigma thing. The closest I've seen to that was probably when DEAN was still in WWE. Weidly enough, he also had a suprisingly large black fanbase.

This. I was aware of him and Matt even in like 99 as a kid and I didn't even watch. My friends were really into him and had his action figures in the early 00s. I think he was just part of the pop culture shit at the time with stuff like jackass, skating and bam being so popular. Jeff was unique because a lot of the shit he did was unlike what other guys were doing in wwf at the time. I agree if he wasn't a drug addict he could have been legit massive. Unlike guys WWE pushed he had organic popularity that was genuine.

Wrestling fans usually love any black guy that can actually work and doesn't overstay their welcome like a Mabel or New Day.
