HHH and him hate each other. Look at how Road Dogg still talks about him. Those guys did everything they could to try to keep him down and were seething when he pushed through and faced Austin. Meanwhile, HHH's original run flopped up until they paired with Stephanie and Foley went out of his way to put him over.
HHH's revisionism in the AE is hilarious. I'll give him 2000, but for most part he was a midcarder for most of the era and guys like X-Pac and Road Dogg were getting larger reactions than he was.
