To some degree Hogan was trusted to plan out feuds or scout for potential monsters that he could face down the line but ultimately the extent of his creative control was "That finish dosen't work for me, Brother." without any contractual clauses to back it.
After almost two decades and being a top star in every major promotion from the AWA to the WWF to NJPW to WCW, Hogan finally had creative control written into his contract and it was a fucking disaster. It lead to some of the worst angles and worst booking decisions to ever make national TV.
If someone who could legitimately claim to be the top draw, ever in the entire history of the business, did not have the ability to handle creative control without it turning into bullshit..
