>>9394305Times change. Wrestling peaked in the Attitude Era. It fit perfectly into the mainstream young adult cultural consciousness of the time, occupied by the gritty, edgy nu-metal aesthetic, sex and rebelling against conservatives, South Park, Beavis and Butthead etc.
It also helped that it coincided with the greatest roster of talent ever and an all-out war between two of the biggest companies. It was molten hot, but like every pop culture phenomenon, its time passed. The general quality of the show obviously lessened somewhat, but I don't think that's directly to blame.
Look at Marvel movies today. They've been a mainstay and a global media superpower for more than a decade now, but it's slowly withering away. The new Marvel movies probably aren't that different from the old ones, it's just that people are tired of them and thus way more critical. Ultimately, the zoomers will be left with memories of a better time just like the millenials before them.
