No it wasn't. It was brand dependent. RAW was more important, and whatever belt was there was more likely to main event. Cena and Batista switching shows was the only reason the WWE title went back to main eventing.

The Universal championship was red when it was for the Raw champion. It became the blue belt that Roman currently carries because it was then the Smackdown championship. It’s really fucking stupid.

The only mistake they made with the 2016 split was making some of the titles brand color coded. "RAW tag/womens" title and the Universal title strap being color coded. Come up with different ways to differentiate them, they did it before.
