The difference is Tony is running aew to validate himself to himself. He lurked backstage at WWE shows for years and no one would hire him. AEW is his cope against wwe. The entire core narrative if the company is "WWE bad, us good". There's no denying that.
The odds that aew even breaks even are low, there's no way that the company will be allowed to run at a loss if it starts to nosedive and losing all it's deals. It's already lost a load of sponsors and partnerships, and half the roster are openly shitting on everything Tony does without naming him. You have to be pretty mentally ill to not see that the company is run badly and it won't be allowed to keep snowballing past a certain point.
