>>9452609If you bothered to watch their match at Starrcade, you'd realize that Sting was in TERRIBLE shape. He was not at all ready to work such a big match. WCW had him on the shelf for 15 months or so, and all the whole Sting was taking drugs, not getting into shape.
Nick Patrick botched the finish btw, not Hogan. The finish was supposed to be a fast count, which triggered Bret to get incensed due to the fast count he had suffered during the Montreal Screwjob. Patrick fucked up and counted at regular speed, probably a complete accident since refs are so conditioned to count consistently. There is literally zero evidence Hogan had anything to do with that.
And then after the match, Sting runs around like the druggie he was and immediately breaks character, reverting back into the animated, excitable surfer gimmick. He shouts "Mamacita!" quite clearly into camera. None of that made any sense with his darker persona. The commentary team even point out that Sting hadn't said a word in over a year. I'm sure it really helped that his first word was "Mamacita" like a dumb, drugged out goofball.
Stink ruined the storyline. Nobody else, except maybe an accident by Nick Patrick. WCW should have pulled the trigger on Luger a few months back when they had the chance and he was massively over.
