Nah this is way too farfetched. I think the Sullivan conspiracy would make the most sense as far as any love triangle shit goes. One thing I think might be possible is Benoit was simply chosen as the scapegoat by powers higher up then Vince and anyone in WWE because they wanted to attack steroid use again. Benoit being the choice since his buddy Eddie had died not too long prior and since both of them were smaller guys who got blown way the fuck up huge due to roid use. Benoit was also beloved by hardcore wrestling fans. The guy was also clearly going to be winding down sooner than later so it was easiest to just use him for all of this unfortunately. I do think in this scenario WWE or Vince were also at least a bit in on it. Either they were promised business benefits or they were wanting to change course because very shortly after Benoit's death look at how much WWE changed going into the PG direction. People forgot how drastically Benoit's death changed the WWE for the worse. All by design though since they wanted a new PG child friendly direction since wrestling's old cycle was finished as far as they were concerned. WWE got hundreds of times more corporate from the 2010's to now.
