They tried for years and years to find their next Rey Mysterio and it just never worked out. WWE knows masks are easy to sell merch, and they've signed TONS of luchas over the years but somehow they just never get over. Sin Cara was supposed to be the new Rey and debuted to a ton of hype, but fell flat on his face.

They signed a ton of them and gave them all the same gimmick of "I am a high flying luchadore and i'm really happy to be here :)" and unsurprisingly this gimmick does not translate to merch sales
Also Sin Cara should have been that guy, and while it isn't technically the company's fault he was a crybaby botch machine made of glass they still didn't do a whole lot to help him out. That weird lighting they did for all his matches looked like the lighting for a East European gay porno
