>>9498255>Serious go back and watch the promo and point out the big deal to me, because I still to this day don't understand his issue with it.Sure. First you have to remember that at the time of the promo, the dirtsheets were already abuzz with rumors that Punk was involved with Colt Cabana not being on TV. Then remember that the Punk vs Hangman feud was a face vs face one, with Punk being scheduled to win his first AEW world title and thus solidify his position as the biggest babyface in the company.
Now if you watch the promo you’ll notice Punk is constantly putting Hangman over and constantly bringing the subject back to their match at All Out to try and sell the PPV. And what does Hangman do in return? He goes on a rambling tangent, during which he starts implying that Punk is actively screwing over other wrestlers backstage. Because yes, that is what “You talk a big game about workers’ rights, but you’ve shown the exact opposite since you got here” implies. Showing the “exact opposite” of standing up for your fellow workers very much implies screwing them over, i.e. getting Colt Cabana off of TV.
It may have been in a very subtle and indirect way, but Hangman basically decided to shoot confirm the bad press that Punk was getting in the dirtsheets. Instead of sticking to the planned build for All Out, he went into business for himself and his friend Cabana and tried to tarnish Punk’s reputation and make him look like a carny piece of shit when Punk was supposed to be carrying the company as its biggest babyface going forward as he was scheduled to win the title. That’s why Punk got mad.
