This, when I heard Vince say that on the documentary I never for one second thought he actually meant he thought Bret was the best champion. But given that Bret is without question the GOAT technical wrestler WWF/E (and WCW) has ever had I'm not sure who else would fit the bill. Having Bret as champion legitimized the title and the business because he looks like he's actually wrestling and takes it seriously and never really got involved in the larger than life crazy storylines.
