I think that there's plenty of nuance to it, he just doesn't really seem to get the full picture of the modern state of wrestling. We all know wrestling is fake, so these days a lot of the nuance comes from the relationship between the fans, the wrestlers and the companies. How many betrayal storylines have there ever been that have played out beat for beat in the same way, potentially even to the same people? How many spots have people like CM Punk ripped off from aomeone like Bret Hart? How many times have audiences rejected the hero presented to them and clung to someone else? Pro Wrestling is a living, breathing art form that's really unlike almost anything else.

The real problem is that WWE killed kayfabe and now it's dead for everyone. Back in the day, wrestlers would treat it as real and none would ever admit in an interview that it was in any way scripted. The mere suggestion that it was would be met with physical threats.

Yeah here I would've just used the Sami and the Bloodline storyline because it's way easier to explain. Some guy wants respect so he kisses up to the biggest meanest group in the company. Along the way he has to jump through hoops to prove his loyalty but right as he's near the finish line he finally turns and realizes that theseguys aren't right so no he tries to stop them. The Bianca story is harder to explain, but Becky didn't do herself any favors by getting so detail oriented in her explanation.

I would argue that working the crowd provides the depth that the interviewer wants. He doesn't understand that the reason the crowd is hooting and hollering is in direct response to the workers intentionally trying to elicit that response.

WWE's commentary is absolute shit, no argument there. Michael Cole has been around so long, ruining the experience, that there are younger fans that don't even recognize how awful he is because they've never heard anyone else.

But I can't agree that there's nuance added by the commentary team. They might explain a story, as good ol' JR used to do back in the day, but that's the opposite of nuance.
