What I've seen of him over the past year or so between Impact and AEW has been seriously underwhelming, and while it's nice in the short-term to score a coup by landing a major free agent, I have serious doubts that Jay White is actually going to end up being a difference-maker for anyone, rather than merely an expensive albatross.
New Japan doesn't need him: gaijin, other than maybe Kenny, aren't important to their domestic market, and Switchblade has already proven incapable of drawing the international audiences like Omega, Jericho, or A.J. AEW has its problems, but Jay White isn't the solution to any of them: if anything, he just complicates things by adding one more high-priced outsider taking time away from developing home-grown talent. Nor does either NJPW or AEW really lose out if he goes to WWE. 90% of their fanbase has no idea who he is, and the E doesn't have a great track record for getting foreign talent over (unless they're monster heels or cartoonish stereotypes).
