This is an example of flippy shit done well. Wes Lee is going for his finisher on JD so the setup is logical, Axiom intercepts and connects with the kick which makes for an awesome spot. There is no pose-down, no double missing dropkicks, no overly choreographed tumbling routines, just a short spurt of brutal-looking flippy shit.

The problem with flippyshit is when it's clearly done just to have the guys do cool looking stuff with no notion of fitting it into a wrestling match.
This was just a guy hitting a guy mid finisher. You can say his finisher's stupid, and I'd agree, handspring finishers are fucking garbage, but the sequence in general is fine since it follows logically.

If they did this in AEW, it'd be fine there, too. In AEW they'd make it more contrived have eight more moving pieces that necessitated everyone getting into position for 15 seconds, though. Because AEW isn't a pro wrestling company.

Yeah, a match of that general, spotfest style. That's not necessarily bad, it's bad when it's done bad. In AEW, it's done bad, because they can't piece together a pro wrestling match.
You could find plenty of spotmonkey bullshit in NXT as well. This wasn't an instance of it. This was just a guy intercepting another guy's finish.

njpw does a lot of this stuff in their jr heavyweight matches and it's good there too because they pug together their spots and sequences way better and more fluid than aew does, this type of wrestling is hard to pull off and look cohesive and non-cooperative but it can be done, they did it in the op, they do it in njpw for the most part, aew can't for it's life manage to do it
