I’ve genuinely never been more disappointed in a wrestling show in my life. This year’s Mania had the potential to be top 3. Shit, it **should’ve** been top 3 after how good Night 1 was. But Night 2 ruined any chance it had.
I don’t give a shit what anyone says: Roman going over was unquestionably the wrong decision, and there’s so many reasons why. Cody’s momentum was completely destroyed, and even if he does beat Roman eventually it won’t feel the same. Guess he’s HHH’s favorite midcarder too. It also tainted the Bloodline story. What are they gonna do, play will they, won’t they with Jey again? The group’s right back where it started but with less hardware.
Most importantly, who beats Roman? Seth doesn’t need the belt to be a star. Jey isn’t gonna sell out a stadium. Gunther’s got a stranglehold on the midcard. Randy’s on the verge of retirement. Bron’s not ready. Drew, Sami, and KO already had their shots. There’s no one left. The time to end the reign was now and they dropped the ball.
That’s without talking about the rest of the show. I’m completely fine with Gunther winning the triple threat, but Balor & Asuka both should’ve won. They brought back the Demon & repackaged Asuka for what? Brock/Omos existed, and the Women’s Showcase was a snoozefest at best with an untalented, but predictable winner. No LA Knight, no Lashley open challenge, and no good surprises. Shane O’Mac shouldn’t be on my TV screen in 2023.
Night 2 overall was a massive letdown. It’s got me not wanting to watch wrestling again anytime soon, but hey, Raw after Mania crowd I guess.
For once, who let Trips book?
