Roman's the central plinth of the story the other characters work off of, of course he's going to be used as the impetus for these things.
If you want to talk about a specific betrayal of trust, he had JUST earned Jey's, and then fucked it. As another anon said, he turned right around to Jey and started apologizes, even when hitting Roman, he was more concerned with what he'd done to Jey.
