Maybe NJPW wasn't down for him only showing up every couple months or Jay just wants to 'explore his options' in the meantime(i.e work them for bigger payday like every single wrestler sincere beginning of time has done). Regardless i don't think him going back is completely off the table, I think either side would have made that clear by now if it was.

Because it makes no sense to have a wrestler leave New Japan like that if he's going to a friendly company. Why would he never do Kenny type dates? Or at least be open to them even if he never went through with them? New Japan US shows?
I understand they can go back on it later, but New Japan generally does not go back on stipulations as serious as those if they can help it.
