AEW is an alternative brand, or is supposed to be. Tony Khan has only ever watched WWE, wcw and ECW and his entire show is just bad imitations of moments from those promotions without the context that made them work, with Japan style factions that he assembles randomly thanks to the young bucks' input.
From the very beginning the entire organisation was run as badly as possible considering their budget. He assigned skilled jobs to renadok wrestlers who all failed miserably in doing a decent job. Now he is hiring random guys who were on the WWE staff to oversee aspects of the show, after WWE has fired them from less prominent positions for not being good at them.
For an example to help you understand how stupid this is.. Imagine you decided to start a McDonald's rival company and you needed someone to design the the building, so you hired Ralphus the cashier who McDonald's fired last week.
