Not only did Emi make it through the "dark times" when promotions were collapsing left and right, but she founded pretty much the only company from that era that still exists. Granted, she left Ice Ribbon in 2012 to do her own thing, but she did so after training two future AEW champs, and "doing her own thing" included winning 8 singles belts... One of those future AEW champs even left with her, and eventually got a whole promotion pretty much booked around her.
Emi is many things, including being insane and a complete fucking carny, but there's very few who've had a career as long and fruitful as hers, and even fewer who've done it on their own terms.
She's not on Chigusa's level in terms of of being a legend, sure, but no japanese wrestler has been since then, and only maybe 2 american wrestlers if we're really being honest.
