Used to be pulled in really shitty ways. For example they'd pop the live house by giving them a title change, then have a second referee allegedly confront the wrestlers backstage and reverse the decision on some technicality so the original champion still holds the title.
These days, AEW's done the """face Dusty finish""" version, where the heel cheats to win, but the cheating is discovered and the match is immediately restarted giving the crowd a more definitive result.
