Best part about AJPW and the King's Road style is the variation in finishes

Each guy had like 10 ways to finish a match, keeps it exciting and makes every nearfall actually matter because you're not just bored waiting for a guy to hit his 1 finishing move and then it's over.

Makes it much easier to surprise an audience that is familiar with your wrestlers

Baba's emphasis on storytelling. The Pillars learned how to do exciting things but also those things all made sense for the story. Fairly the Three Musketeers were doing great shit too though. The 90s was just a really good era for Japanese wrestling in general.
