Bret and Shawn didn't "almost put WWE out of business". The steroid scandal, the sexual harassment scandal, Vince losing his previously-built stars, his inability to create a new major star at the time, plus his refusal to drop the retarded cartoon gimmicks and storylines from the roster, were all the things that almost put it out of business
Bret and Shawn helped to keep the company going in spite of all that (along with guys like Undertaker, Scott Hall and yes, even Kevin Nash)
I am so fucking sick of this narrative of Bret and Shawn (and other top wrestlers from that period) being anti-draws in the company just because they couldn't get Hogan numbers as WWE was slowly going down. THEY DID THE BEST THAT THEY COULD WHEN NO ONE ELSE WAS AVAILABLE TO DO IT. They slowed down the company's bleeding until Rock and Austin were ready to take over and inject new life in the company, they deserve more respect than to be called anti-draws
