He's in a good spot. The crowd likes him. Not everyone who pops the audience is world championship material. Who was more over than Rikishi with the little Jimmies of the world at his peak? He didn't need to be champion to accomplish that. Wrestling needs intrigue at every level of the card. It's amazing that only Russo and Ferrara are still the only ones who ever consistently delivered in that respect.

He was in a tag match at Slammiversary 2017 that was pretty sick. DeAngelo Williams came in, looked like a future mega star and never had another match. I guess it exposed the business in a way. Wrestling is easy for actual athletes.
