RA was wasted opportunity after wasted opportunity. The focused on outdoing the crazyness of the Attitude era without realizing that the reason people gave a shit in the first place was because of the top guys.
In a way, it fed into the opposite problem the indies had. RA was wackyness for the sake of wackyness the same way the indies were matches for the sake of matches. During the early 2000s the figure of the wrestler took a backseat while the focus was placed not on him, but rather on things that happened around him. Ultimately that left only the fans that were going to watch because it's wrestling, regardless of who's actually wrestling or how well it's done, and wrestlers that didn't know how to make the people care about them and who they were
