Genuinely, what do you even say to a kid like that? Look at those hopeless, defeated eyes. It seems wrong to do the whole cliché "Ya gotta stay strong, brother" because you both know it's fucking over, and when the kids are this near-death I doubt they're even in a state to give a shit about whoever's visiting.
