He's super high on coke and in a roid mood backstage and wanted to come in early, eliminate a ton of guys, and go the distance looking like a badass, then do that shit he does where he beats the wrestler at their own game (see: outwrestling Kurt Angle, beating AJ Styles's strikes with his own shitty punches) against fucking LESNAR. Never mind that he gets out of breath and sweaty coming to the ring, so he would've ended up sleeping on the mat and sucking wind in no time if he'd tried it, but he actually thought he should be the main character of the Royal Rumble.

Lesnar was like "you got to be kidding me" and went to Vince and Vince put a stop to that. But watch the elimination spot where Lesnar clotheslines him over. Shane still doesn't want to go out until Lesnar puts that extra push on it like "you're going over the top, motherfucker" and he gets the picture.
