Most of the WWE booking that smarks seethe over is Vince, not HHH.
HHH has journalist stooges because he is & has always been a desperately insecure narcissist who needs people to think he's cool & awesome, and Vince doesn't give a fuck about snarks so plows ahead letting HHH politick for smark approval.
Sad part is it works. Prior to 2009, HHH was one of the most hated guys online, for being a backstage politicker who got himself & pals over at the expense of everyone & business, while being a methodical plodder who needed gimmicks to have a decent match.
Consider the following, tell me it doesn't make sense as I'm 100% sure this is what happened:
>HHH picked Roman as his pet project back in FCW, demanded he was in Shield, Vince saw Big E as the FCW top prospect at the time, this was covered by dirtsheets at the time.>HHH is a known NWA mark for dominant heel stables & long heel title runs. Vince has always booked WWE as a Face Ace company, with 2 exceptions - HHH/Evolution & Roman. Common denominator is HHH.>HHH seethed at jobbing to Benoit. HHH is best buds with Batista, always gets his buds over especially if it's a program with someone he dislikes (Making Summer of Punk about him/Nash).>Vince is tight with Bryan, has called him his favourite current wrestler ie. it was probably HHH who didn't rate him. Vince baited HHH & booked a mix of authority screwjob + Benoit push as a shot at HHH. The Punk match was also to annoy Hunter until Punk walked out.>HHHs alleged pal William Regal got fired as the HHH/Khan coup occurred. He went to AEW, had a podcast where he only said good things about Vince & intimated that karma would come around for certain people. When Vince is back in the frame, Regal gets rehired.
