The Authority was such garbage. Sure, it let Haitch work the smarks, but in kayfabe when a company that's focused on profits and doing "what's best for business" is looking at an audience loudly cheer for one guy and going "no, not him," doesn't that just make them look retarded? Maybe if they tried to coerce Daniel Bryan into becoming the perfect, bland, marketable hero and tried to make him change his entire look and image, I could get it. At least with Vince vs Stone Cold, you could understand why a wealthy businessman doesn't want some redneck hick being the top guy in his company.
