Truth about AEW vs WWE

No.9792897 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Simply put, AEW and WWE are not at war. They've never been at war.
As much as Tony Khan and his employees wish that there were, this is just another example of TNA and WWE in 2011, except AEW is doing even worse ratings than TNA did during what people say was one of the worst years TNA has ever had. AEW does not make WWE book better shows, it does not make them book better PPVs. This was obvious as when Dynamite first started airing, WWE was doing Tyson Fury vs Braun, Brock vs Cain Velasquez (Crown Jewel), TLC that year, and the infamous Hell in a Cell that year. RAW wasn't much better and Bray Wyatt had a stranglehold over the title.
Unironically, everything Hunter did was unnecessary when he put NXT on the line with Dynamite. Vince and other people within the company had clearly known that AEW is not a threat and wouldn't even come close to their market dominance. If there ever was a war between these two companies, it's now over thanks to the stagnation of AEW's ratings and their lack of momentum. AEW is never going to beat WWE on revenue and ticket sales, they're never going to beat them on media deals even if they have the best wrestling in the world (which they don't).
Study the TNA 2010-2012 period if you wish to know how this will turn out.
