Raekwon has this one perfect moment, The Purple Tape. Without it, he’s just above average enhancement talent that can take a mean bump. He also had irrational confidence and thinks he should be a top guy for some reason other people don’t understand. But everyone that listened to Hip Hop agrees the Purple Tape is a classic but it’s really the only thing they give a shit about he’s done. They’ve tried to redo it and it was fine but it’s not Foley coming off that cage.
Ghostface as Bryan is sketchy but the logic is, RZA identified the draws pretty early on. Ghostface was second fiddle to Rae even who wasn’t even pushed as the big draw like Meth was. Working hard in a style no one really does for years got him over, and he picked up serious steam. By the 00’s he was the best selling Wu-Tang member but no one really believed he was a top guy, they just wanted him to have his moment. He’s never sniffed the sort of popularity he had when he did Fishscale and never had a banger as popular as the one of Supreme Clientele, but he’s consistently good and respected but maybe people like him in theory more than practice. I’m sure there’s better wrestling comp.
