as someone that wanted the partnership to happen, i fully accept that it wont happen anymore. tony should move on. there will come a day when stardom decides they want to expand to the american market and all they will have is njpw strong and maybe impact to help them out.

If they trigger a western expansion now it's not a sure bet. They're not as big as NJPW was when they did so.
If they tried and flopped it could backfire hard. Better to get more momentum first, which they're steadily gaining.

At this point I want it to happen because it'll go about as well as the rest of AEW's Japan partnerships i.e. you get to watch all of Stardom's top talent job out to Skye Blue in five minute matches on Dark Elevation.

Hard disagree, think it's a completely different situation anyway.

NJPW was getting stale in terms of its available match-ups. They've got Young Lions in the pipeline, yes, and they're trying new things like Sanada finally BUT as a NJPW fan, the sudden eagerness to do cross-promotional shit, with AEW, with NOAH, with literally anyone else, was an absolute godsend and is great for the promotion

Perfectly timed to give NJPW a little boost in terms of match-ups right when it needs it, if you ask me

AEW does not respect New Japan, the matches are dorky storyless hypeless (besides twitter) matches on TV and they get to hold our belts hostage. Comparing the New Japan VS AEW record has it be extremely lopsided for AEW, and it's the same if you only account Forbidden Door. On top of that they poach our guys and will be poaching Will Ospreay next January too.

Ospreay's reign leading up to the Omega defense was really good. It was finally starting to gain steam and now it's been on ice since WK, with no signs of an US title match until Forbidden Door. The Cobb match was a heatless match in front of a crowd that doesn't know who Cobb is. It would have been 50 times better in Japan.

I wouldnt be shocked if Ospreay leaves. You can tell he fell in love wrestling in front of the US crowd when he was over here and Jericho is a personal mentor. At the same time, Ospreay is a top guy in NJPW and has his own faction which is getting new members constantly. He loves the Japanese people and still needs 2 things left to do. Will be interesting to see what he decides to do.
