>>9847420The problem with Corey is that he clearly knows and understands, and likely studied, what made Heenan and co. good but doesn't know how to apply it. So he just comes off as very cringe and tryhard and inauthentic, making you aware that he's just doing his job as a heel commentator stock character. He also seems like a mark for himself and is obssessed with being the coolest guy in the room, but he never gets commeuppance for being so awful. I will say though in his defense, the team with KP really makes me realise he's not actually a bad commentator since he's forced to fill in for KP's pure incompetance
>>9849677Barret is good. He's able to root for the bad guys and make it fun but still clearly sympathises with the heels just like Lawler, Heenan etc did. He is aware that he needs to look stupid and foolish and isn't afraid to set up the faces and commentators to dunk on him unlike Corey. Maybe he's a bit too funny and likeable for the heel role, a bit too cartoony, but it's a lot better for the program than whatever it is Corey tries to do.
