Weird hypothetical question, would it be possible to rebuild Impact as a serious threat to WWE/AEW? I'm not even sure who currently owns Impact today or even where to find it. Now that I think of it, is ROH even really ROH after Tony got a hold of it? NWA was pretty solid but it's quickly been a mess.

What would it take to save Impact? Or at the very least make NWA a serious competitor.

The most important thing, and this is very important, is get rid of Scott and Gail in management.
Their booking is very "wrestling bubble" and will absolutely not elevate the company in any way, shape or form from where it currently is at, which is right around GCW's level, and I'd argue GCW is doing better overall because no one even has AXSTV and GCW plays the social media rounds hard. I have no idea how Scott managed to carny his way into the position he's at but he was such an idiot not even Dixie kept him around.

Ahhh yes, good old GCW where you'll most likely contract hepatitis. Still amazed some of the talent that shows up from time to time. I think the issue is it's all quantity over quality. Looking at ECW, they had a lot of crappy wrestlers, but the stand outs were really remarkable, plus they got some good TV time. As you stated, the booking is off for Impact, ROH was in the same boat now it's just muddled a bit with AEW flavoring. A guy like PCO or Trevor Murdoch shine in smaller companies, but the issue is the presentation for Impact is faceless. I'd say a re-brand, re-direction is needed. Possible merger with NWA, Hell let Billy Corgan buy it and do an invasion story. I love NWA's presentation style but I think the talent is hit or miss, especially with the goofy gags the gimp crap.

This, WWE is a pretty good show for the younger market, plus Indians and Saudi Arabia. It's the Disney studios of wrestling, nobody can top it and nobody will. But there needs to be options for both wrestlers and viewers. AEW is for... special people... I was pretty excited but my love was quickly shot down. It now seems like WCW/TNA Russo ADHD style storytelling. Not for me. But a third option, with old-school sensibilities has serious potential.

I think NWA's problem is that Billy is a good visionary but doesn't actually know how to run a company. His heart is there, his brain is not.
An NWA-TNA resurrection would probably benefit both companies tremendously but keep in mind Billy tried to buy Impact before and it fell through.

Impact is just plain screwy right now, they are kind of cursed and their ineptness is amazing. AEW will be fine, but the cocaine and drama will catch up eventually. It's a mess and WWE will be fine as always, thus making AEW TNA 2.0. Best option would be fire Scott, NWA-TNA cross brand power house with NWA style production and visuals. Don't try to be WWE of old, but be Crockette of old, utilize that cheaper studio style production for talent and dramas that seem adult and emotional. Avoid the indie shitters that ROH ate up. The world has changed massively since the early 2000s. "edgy" entertainment looks a lot different now than it did then. Im absolutely 100% unequivocally convinced that a wrestling promotion with AEW standard production value but attitude era style wrestling matches and promos (with a modern twist) would outdraw modern day WWE and AEW. Im so convinced of the fact that if I ever come into a few million bucks the very first thing I'd do is buy Impact or some other failing promotion and do exactly that with it
10M+ used to tune in to watch Nitro or Raw every Monday. Those people havent just vanished and they are crying out for edgy entertainment in todays world of ultra sanitised politically correct crap. The only thing missing is someone with enough balls to do it and not care about the twitter hate or cancel culture

Being on whatever channel they are on is better than nothing, but most people can't get it and never will be able to get it. Until that gets sorted out, they are stuck.

I don't know how much demand there is for more wrestling right now. AEW's on twice a week and twice on youtube. AEW also has ROH on the web. WWE's on 3 times a week, plus twice again on the web.

Finding the talent is also a big issue right now. Anyone who shows any promise gets scooped up by someone fast and they will never win a bidding war with AEW and WWE. They should be scouting their own guys, but they don't.

And they screwed up by trying to appeal to the reddit crowd. Reddit likes AEW, not Impact. They haven't cared and won't ever care. Getting Scott D'Amores boyfriend on that roster ran off a bunch of people like myself who might have watched otherwise.
