For the most part I think WWE fans don't really care, they like what they like and that's it, but do feel personally insulted when an AEW fan bashes WWE because it's often through them. Because there's more of them and many being casual, not as many feel connected to some console war.
For AEW fans it is personal because of their personal dislike of WWE. A lot of them were former jilted fans who really do thrive on VDS and for them a WWE fan also represents what they hate, WWE and themselves, as a former fan.
That being said there are a lot that watch or pay attention to both, either because they do still like both or just because they're hatewatching.
EIther way anyone rooted that deep in a console war just wants to believe they're not like the other.
>>9852146Maybe in some (a lot of) cases, but there was a lot of channel flipping until WCW started cooling off, too. It was a lot of the same fans, like now. That being said there was plenty of divide reflecting the different homebases and approaches to wrestling. It was ideological until WCW started being a lot more like WWF.
